Silence is golden (press)

Preposterous, I say.
The witty fellow who
first spoke these is a
fool. None can truly
know the quality of silence;
for silence only descends
on deaf ears,
those that take
it for granted

I love how the poem comments on its own title.

I stumbled a little over the word "these"...meaning words? "This" might be clearer?

I especially like the last four lines.
